Beautiful Peacocks
These peacocks were inspired by a paper plate version from ClairesLittleTots. I decided against using a paper plate though because firstly I'd run out of paper plates but did have lots of green card and secondly, if a toddler decides to only stick two feather and six stickers onto the peacock, you still have a nice colourful picture for your wall.
The tail feather template was made drawing round a side plate, it needs to be about an inch longer than were half would be. I did cut round them all with zig-zag sicsors as I thought it would give a more feathered effect, but not really necessary. It is easiest to glue the whole green tail feathers and then add everything else.
The feathers I always cut in half for toddler group as this made them last longer - for the actual craft at toddler group we used mostly royal blue and teal feathers. The circles are holographic stickers, and the beaks made out of sticky backed foam.
Here are some of the beautiful peacocks the toddlers made this morning:
And if you have lots of feather left... how about making one of these birds, click here to find out how.
