Big Flowers

My son did this craft at Cherubs before I ran the group - he loved the glitter otherwise known as "Shake Shake" when he was two. Five years later on we still do this craft. What's better to a two year old than dribbling gloopy PVA glue and shaking glitter everywhere!

Originally the flower was a pre-bought foam flower, but now we just cut them out of cardboard. The flower is more or less exactly the same shape as this template I found from DLTK. A jumbo sized lollipop stick is cellotaped onto the back to make form the stalk, and the flower centre is a circle of coloured paper.

My tip for when you use glitter at a toddler group is lots of newspaper, and several paper plates in the middle of the table with "shake excess glitter here!"

By drizzling the glue on the flower, it gives a more lined pattern, rather than a solid glitter covering from spreading the glue.

The toddler LOVED shaking their glitter, but the parents stress levels were raised slightly as the glitter flowed.
