The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark
E received an abridged version of the Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Thomlinson for Christmas, and it came with a tiny Plop (the baby barn owl), so decided to make a Owl.
The Owl is made from a 16.6cm diameter circle, and we made the wings from another body. We tried googly eyes but they didn't look right, then E pointed out Plops eyes were black with white dots - so we cut out 2.8cm diameter circles from black paper and stuck on 1cm white stickers. The beak was made of orange paper. We used a variety of brown shades, white and cream feathers and felt for feet.
E was very please with her Plop.
We think it looks fab, so we made them at toddler group a few weeks later as we have been having a run of book themed crafts at Cherubs lately. Here is their parliament of owls:
